That's an interesting approach! While over the air (OTA) updates are quite common for Android smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S II isn't any different to other Android smartphones. However, to my surprise, Samsung has recently released a "GalaxyS2 Camera Firmware Update" which is available through Samsung's very own Samsung Apps app-store but not through the Galaxy S II's official firmware update functionality. Basically, the update is an app-download which is executing and installing itself. Unfortunately, Samsung hasn't given any release notes and therefore it's unknown which problems or bugs the update might fix.
According to Samsung, the camera firmware update is compatible with the I9100, I9100L, I9100T, M250S, M250K and N033 while the I9100 is the important version number for Galaxy S II users. The update takes approximately 4 minutes and requires a reboot after.
The GalaxyS2 Camera Firmware Update can be downloaded from the Samsung Apps.
Cheers ~ Arne
