While it looks like that Twitter is getting busier to bring their own Twitter clients to the market (Twitter has recently released its own BlackBerry Twitter client, has overtaken a Twitter client for iPhones as well as unveiled that an Android version is in development), the yet maybe best Twitter client for Android smartphones - Seesmic - got another update. Seesmic for Android sports a couple of new and worth features including an Android widget for the home screen, geotagging and support for native Retweet. The overall look and feel including GUI wasn't changed (there's no reason for changes at all).
Widget - Seesmic for Android introduces the first version of widget. To add a widget press and hold a free space on your home screen and add the widget to view your timeline from your device's home screen. Simply tap on a tweet to read it entirely, and compose a new tweet from the widget to tweet out to all your friends.
Native Retweet - Seesmic for Android now offers support for Twitter's native Retweet functionality. You can now choose ways of retweeting: Twitter's new way (Retweet) or the old way (Quote), which allows you to add comments to the retweet. If you prefer the old Quote-way, you can even choose the style of your quote from Settings ("RT" or "via"). Furtermore Retweets will also feature Twitter's new Retweet icon.
Geotagging - Let your friends know where your tweets are from with our full geolocation support. With geotagging, you can also see any tweets supporting geolocation graphically displayed. You can attach your location from the composer screen for each message or have it automatically configured in your settings. Tapping the geolocation information shows your friend's location in Google Maps.
Last but not least Seesmic for Android 1.3 addresses a number of fixes and improvements including the annoying "Null Notifications" as well as other small inputs on Tweets, Replies and DMs.
Seesmic for Android 1.3 is now available free of charge from Google's Android Market.
Cheers ~ Arne
