Finally, one of my all-time favorite Windows Mobile Smartphone (Standard) applications
got the long awaited update to work with Windows Vista again: Syncdata
Even with the release of Windows Mobile 6, Microsoft left support of Outlook
Notes which means if you are using this handy digital "Post-it's" as much as I
do, you cannot sync them with your Windows Mobile Smartphone device because
there is no application on Windows Mobile Smartphones like it is available for
Windows Mobile Pocket PCs. Thankfully there is this handy application which
jumped in to close the gap.
However, no make it really useful it also includes a sync provider to allow
automatic synchronization between the mobile device and the PC every time you
connect the Smartphone with the PC and it worked fine so far with ActiveSync.
But since Microsoft changed some of the underlying technology in the Windows
Mobile Device Center, which replaced ActiveSync in Windows Vista,
SmartphoneNotes wasn't able to sync with Windows Vista PCs anymore. Now,
Syncdata released SmartphoneNotes 2.1 which includes support for Windows Vista
and the Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center to allow you to sync your Outlook
Notes with Windows Mobile Smartphones again:
And even better, as I can confirm, SmartphoneNotes 2.1 is also compatible with
Windows Mobile 6.0 already (even if not officially announced yet):
SmartphoneNotes 2.1 is available as a free update for every SmartphoneNotes 2.x
owner. The full version is available for US$ 15.95 but Syncdata also offers a
free 30 days trial version.
Cheers ~ Arne
