Microsoft has updated the .NET Messenger Service by requiring that only updated clients access the Service, which will help ensure that our customers have the latest security and privacy protections. Customers who have not installed an updated client by October 15, 2003 will no longer be able to access the .NET Messenger Service.

Updates for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and Pocket PC Phone Editions (2002 and 2003) are now available through Microsoft. Download and install these updates prior to October 15 to prevent any service interruptions.

Microsoft is working with its mobile operator partners to make updates available for all Windows Mobile-based Smartphones. Certain Windows Mobile-based Smartphones will be compatible with the new protocol out-of-the-box and customers will not need to take any action in order to access MSN Messenger after October 15. For information on update availability, please check back at this web site.

Cheers ~ Arne

I install the update, rebooted the device and tested it with some co-workers. WELL...

After the first install, MSN IM wouldn't recieve messages, so I uninstalled the update.

Once I uninstalled the update, MSN IM wouldn't work at all!!

I reinstall the update and all is working fine for now.

At my co-workers computer it shows I'm on line but with the mobile icon instead of the normal online icon. And the co-worker now gets a notification that I logged on using a mobile device

maybe it's MSN IM system that's having issues this morning but I'm only getting about 1/2 the messages when logged in via my PPCPE. I'll do more testing tomorrow to see if the same issues arise.
