Back in February, during the Mobile World Congress, Torch Mobile announced the first Beta of Iris Browser, an Apple WebKit based web browser (read more about WebKit here) for Windows Mobile and since February, Torch Mobile released a couple of Beta 1 versions of Iris Browser. Now, Torch Mobile released its Beta 2 of Iris Browser for Windows Mobile. This new version contains over 100 fixes and improvements since the last Beta release and is said to be incredibly fast and stable now. The focus of this release was entirely on performance, smaller footprint (10 % smaller than Beta 1), user interaction improvements and stability as well as page rendering improvements.

Compared to the first Betas, Beta 2 looks very much like Beta 1, but - according to Torch Mobile - that's really the end of the similarity.
Iris Browser Beta 2, which is now available for free download, has been tested on a variety of Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6 devices, including Classic and Professional editions. A 400 MHz CPU with at least 128 MB of RAM is recommended at this time, though it is known to work well on 200 MHz processors and 64 MB devices.
