Twitter has just released another update of Twitter for Android which now includes some of the most commonly requested features from the users. First, it now offers push notifications which lets users instantly receive Twitter updates - no matter what you're doing on your phone. In the account settings, select "automatic refresh" and choose to receive updates for Direct Messages, @Mentions (from the people you follow or anyone) and Tweets. And finally, Twitter for Android is also supporting multiple accounts without ever logging out and in again. It's now even easier to switch between accounts to discover and share what's happening in the world.
Furthermore, Twitter has updated the appearance of home screen widgets and added a bunch of other improvements and bug fixes.
Twitter for Android 2.1.0, which requires Android 2.1 or higher, is now available free of charge from the Android Market.
And while we are on the topic - now it's also time for Twitter to release an updated version of Twitter for Windows Phone which also features push notifications! Even Facebook features it now, and therefore it shouldn't be a problem for Twitter to bring Toasts and Tiles to Windows Phone as well!
Cheers ~ Arne
