UPGRADE: Google releases Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich Factory Images for the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus

Yesterday I told you that Google has started to rollout Android 4.0.4/Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades and updates to its Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus devices. However, since this is another staged FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) roll-out, it can take some time that your device will receive the notification to update or upgrade its firmware to the latest available Android version. If you can't wait any longer, Google has now released the original factory binaries which allow you to flash your device, straight from your PC. Now available are the Android 4.0.4 factory binaries for the Galaxy Nexus S (GSM/UMTS worldwide version) and for the Galaxy Nexus (GSM/HSPA+ version). The Galaxy Nexus CDMA/LTE version is yet neither available nor supported by the GSM/HSPA+ version!

Since these are the original factory images, they will completely wipe the flashed device and will bring it into the original state which means it's suggested to backup every content first. Furthermore, these binaries don't come with a simple click and execute flash utility but require to flash the devices from the command prompt. Therefore this method is only recommended for experienced users. Nevertheless, the images are now available for your joy.

Cheers ~ Arne
