UPGRADE: HTC announces immediate release of Android 4.2.2 and HTC Sense 5 for HTC One X, One X+, One XL and Butterfly

Following all the trouble that the HTC's last year's HTC One S won't receive any Android 4.2.2 goodness, HTC Germany has just issued a press release where it said, that starting today, the HTC One X, HTC One X+, HTC One XL and HTC Butterfly will receive the anticipated Android 4.2.2 and HTC Sense 5 upgrade. While the Android 4.2.2 upgrade will come with all the Android goodies like quick-settings, lock-screen widgets, Day Dream, and more; the HTC Sense 5 upgrade is even more important since it features a cleaner and flatter user interface and sports some new features like BlinkFeed, Zoe Gallery, Video Highlights, autofocus lock and the HTC Music Channel with lyrics.

While this press release was issued by HTC Germany, I would expect that all European HTC smartphones, mentioned above, will receive Android 4.2.2 and HTC Sense 5 love soon. There was no release schedule given, it was only said that the upgrade starts today. However, I would expect that this is - as always - a staged upgrade which means that not all users will receive the upgrade bits the same time. Nevertheless, it might be worth to do a manual check, if an upgrade is available.

Cheers ~ Arne
