Right after Android 1.6 aka Donut was released mid last month, T-Mobile U.S. has started to roll-out the Android 1.6 upgrade to T-Mobile G1 (HTC Dream) and myTouch 3G (HTC Magic) customers. The over-the-air (OTA) update will be delivered to all T-Mobile G1 and T-Mobile myTouch 3G customers in the coming days. Android 1.6 brings several new features to the Android platform, including a new and enhanced version of the Android Market which now includes now screenshots, a re-worked search function, including the ability to search phone systems such as the browser bookmarks and history, contacts, and the Web from the desktop.

It's not yet known when other T-Mobile subsidiaries will start the Android 1.6 upgrade nor is it known when manufactures like HTC and Samsung will release Donut upgrades for their respective Android smartphones.

Cheers ~ Arne
