UTILITY: DontForget 2.5 for Windows Mobile Standard Smartphone released

Well, as powerful as Windows Mobile smartphones are, sometimes you might have an information overload as well. During a meeting you received a bunch of new E-Mails, SMS and MMS messages and even have missed calls, just to forget to read everything right after the meeting because you have something different in mind. Looks like DontForget - which was just released in v2.5 - could be the answer. It's an easy-to-use and highly customizable Windows Mobile Standard application that can repeatedly remind you of unread SMS text messages, unread MMS multimedia messages, unread E-Mails, missed calls and missed calendar events by sound, vibration, notification window or hardware LED.

But it is not just an extension for Windows Mobile operating systems which should already be present and preinstalled by Microsoft or the ODM. DontForget can do much more. You can also schedule to automatically switch your device to a certain profile, switch to the Flight-mode or switch the device completely off on a given time of deactivation and much more.

DontForget works with all Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone and Windows Mobile 6 Standard smartphones with a default QVGA screen resolution and requires .NET Compact Framework 1.0 only (a Windows Mobile Pocket PC/Professional version is in work but not yet available).
The full version is available for 10 Euro but a fully functional 15 days trial version is available as well. According to the developer, by purchasing the license you automatically get technical support, upgrades and future enhancements and the income is used to contribute to special school for sightless children (quite nic, this alone is worth the 10 Euro).

Cheers ~ Arne

This seems like it could possibly be one of the most annyoing applications every developed!

Why do you think so?
Could be very useful tool for some users.
Personally, I like it and I will spend my 10 Euro - it's worth much more...

I see it as "reminder overload". I have enough reminders in WM6 and don't see the need for additional reminders. I instinctively check my in-box if I don't already see that I have mail and SMS's, etc. which is always the case. This is simply excessive in my eyes unless I am totally missing something.

And that's it. You have to manually check the inboxes etc. if you missed something or not.
And ... this app gives you a bit more than just reminders and notifications. Just read...

Key features
• wide range of monitored events (SMS, MMS, missed calls, calendar events, unread e-mails, voicemails)
• choose sound to play for reminder notification (5 sound samples included)
• manual or automatic (according the profile) sound volume
• selectable repeat time interval and repetition rate
• selectable vibration and LED alert (device specific, read further down)
• wide range of deactivation setting (in selected profile, in the Flight-mode or specified time period)
• highly customizabled deactivation and re-activation actions (action scheduling) like:
  • switch off the device
  • switch the device to the Flight-mode or back to GSM mode
  • switch to selected phone profile
  • execute or open selected application or file
• scheduled reboot (soft-reset) to automatically reboot your device in preset weekdays and time to keep your device healthy
• Flight-mode switching and automatic reboot feature is working even the device is locked or secured by the SIM PIN
• main LED handling (set frequency of the blinking of LED or disable it completely (device specific, may not work on all devices, just try it!)

But ok, if you are satisfied ... what can I do :-)

Yup, much more than I need and being "satisfied" with what I have makes this a "nice-to-have" at best, a gimmick. To each his own though! Cheers! :-)

New version available, DontForget updated to 2.55

This maintanance version fixes some issues and bugs reported by users. E.g.
- Sound player module was rewritten. Known ugly knack/crack at the and of the reminder sound is gone. Also the problem playing some WAV file should be fixed now.
- Problem with sound volume fixed.
