On Sunday we've learned from Arne and Andy Taylor how to subscribe a RSS feed. pRSSreader is another freeware RSS feed reader (like the one described in this article: UTILITY: Free NewsBreak Lite RSS feed reader for Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone.

pRSSreader is easy to use and install bu is available for Windows Mobile 2003 and SE Pocket PCs only right now.

pRSSreader comes as a .CAB file. So if you want to install it just copy the file pRSSreader.ARM.CAB to your mobile device and execute it from the device file manager. If you want to install the program to a storage card I recommend to use CabInstl (see UPDATE: CAB Installer CabInstl 1.03 released for more information).

After you've installed pRSSreader you will be surprised. The whole program is nothing more than one file: pRSSreader.exe. To configure pRSSreader just tap on the Tools -> Site Manager.

In the Site Manager list you can see all subscribed feeds. Currently none ;-)

Adding a site is easy, just enter the URL and tap the Add button. Lucky me, http://www.theunwired.net/xml-rss.php is correct (Status: Ok)

Close these dialog to see the list of new feeds. The (*) indicates unread news. Tap the one you want to read to open it. If you want to read the rest/full article click on the blue highlighted headline. Pocket Internet Explorer will automatically opens the appropriate site. Lucky if it is optimized for Pocket PC access like the::unwired.

Interesting enough is also a deeper ook into the properties - to do so, open Properties from File.

As you see, the webmaster has done a good job since everything seems to work proper.

pRSSreader is available free of charge from the project page and according to the planned features list, the developer seems to continue improving it.

Hello,

It looks like this RSS reader has been based on PocketFeed. This is also a free Rss reader but with the advantage of using pIE to read the article you choosed. Why is this an advantage ? because since PocketPC2003 SE, pIE offers a one column layout ... so it's very easy to read the complete article with pIE.
