Doesn't matter how powerful smartphones are nowadays, the battery stays the Achilles heel. The better and more powerful smartphones become, the worse becomes the battery life. I know from some meetings with Qualcomm, that the smartphone chip manufacturer number one is working on this and in the meantime, Qualcomm has released an updated version of its "BatteryGuru" app for Android. The new Snapdragon BatteryGuru 2.0 is said to be the next generation of battery management with intelligent charging recommendations. The app still intelligently learning how Snapdragon powered smartphones are used, requires no user configuration and automatically learns habits and preferences to adjust the smartphone settings.
It is said to extend battery performance and improves overall user experience by intelligently making changes that optimize device functionality in phones with Snapdragon mobile processors. After a brief 2 - 4 day introduction period, Snapdragon BatteryGuru learns the user's behaviors and then notifies the user that it is ready to extend the battery life and improve the experience. Snapdragon BatteryGuru continues to operate in the background, deepening its understanding of the user and further optimizing the experience over time.
Also new to v2.0 is the remaining battery life info in hours and minutes, which is shown in the notification bar as well as the battery status in % which is now shown periodically. In addition, Battery Guru 2.0 will now also notify when the smartphone needs a recharge because the battery won't last until the next regular charge time; as well as it gives a daily reminder to ensure a regular charge isn't missed (but who's forgetting this?).
Snapdragon BatteryGuru battery saver app is said to support a majority of Snapdragon powered devices and Qualcomm said it will continue to work to support additional Snapdragon powered devices. At the moment, BatteryGuru 2.0 requires at least Android 4.0.
