If you have a Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 flashed HTC Typhoon Smartphone and you want to use it as a USB-modem with your PC or Notebook you need a modem driver to get it recognized by Windows XP.
Since this isn't a officially supported Windows Mobile 5.0 device but just a developer (FUT = Friendly User Test) ROM, there wasn't such a driver available - so far.
Now, "nedge2k" from SPV-Developers tweaked the previous available Windows Mobile 2003 USB driver to make it working with Windows Mobile 5.0 as well:
Ok, after a bit of hacking I've managed to make a driver which allows your WM5 Typhoon to be used as a USB modem. This is based on the original C500 driver and works perfectly.
Just remember to add the connection string or it will hang just before the connection is established.
NOTE: This will only work for a WM5 Typhoon. Use the old driver, for 2003 Typhoons.
You can get the driver for free from SPV-Developers.
In case you need a step-by-step how to use the USB driver with your Smartphone, you can also check my previous tutorial "HOW TO: Setting Up a GPRS Connection for Win XP and USB using Smartphone 2002".
