Following yesterday's faulty launch of Microsoft's Facebook client for the Zune HD, Microsoft and Facebook now fixed the issues remotely without releasing a new app. Facebook for Zune HD supports similar features like Microsoft's Facebook for Windows phone. And while it's also possible to cemment and like updates, it's not possible to upload photos or videos to Facebook. However, the user interface gives a good impression how a Facebook integration might look on Microsoft's upcoming Windows Phone 7 devices since the Zune HD and Windows Phone 7 feature a similar GUI concept.
Facebook for Zune HD allows to post status updates as well as publishing info about the song, currently played.
Furthermore it's possible to read read friend's News Feeds, Status Updates and watch friend's Photos, Walls and Info as well as reading Facebook Inbox messages, Sent messages and Notifications and Updates. Last but not least it's possible to send direct Facebook messages.
If a friend update or message contains a link, it's even possible to open the link with the device's inbuilt web browser. And while the Zune HD's web browser as well as photo viewer supports multitouch and pinch to zoom, the Facebook photo viewer doesn't support it. However, the client can be configured to either auto relod news updates or reload them by shaking the device.
Facebook for Zune HD is now available free of charge from Microsoft's Zune Marketplace - either from the Zune HD itself or through installation from a PC.
Cheers ~ Arne
