Even if Palm's webOS is still pretty new and so far available for one device only - the Palm Pre - it's featuring a quite complete suite of preinstalled applications and has some interesting features. As Palm describes it, the Palm Pre is "a phone in sync with your life". For instance, the Pre pulls your different online calendars into one view, bringing you the information you want without having to search for it. The Pre links your contacts from different sources, giving you one place to find what you need. And the Pre delivers incoming messages and notifications in an intuitively subtle way, letting you react or respond however you want.

In addition to mobile phone and PDA-typical applications the Palm Pre also includes Google Maps, a YouTube client, an Office document viewer supporting Microsoft Wird, Excel and PowerPoint as well as Adobe PDFs.

The Pre uses the Palm Synergy feature to bring your Microsoft Outlook, Google and Facebook calendars together for one logical view of your day. And if you have the same contacts in different places, the Pre can link them together, making it easy to find the information you need.

Keep multiple applications open and move easily between them. E-Mail, maps, photos, websites, whatever. The Pre thinks of your applications as activity cards and lets you flip through them, move them around or throw them away off screen.

Thanks to Palm Synergy, your conversations with the same person are grouped together in one chat-style view. (Even if it started in IM, for example and you want to reply with text.) You can also see who's online straight from contacts and start a new conversation with just one touch. Check Microsoft Exchange E-Mail or personal E-Mail accounts like Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo!. Or take great pictures with the built-in camera and flash. Watch a video on the vibrant color touchscreen.

Simply start typing to begin searching your contacts and applications. The Pre begins with information on the phone and then offers to search Google, Google Maps, Wikipedia or Twitter. With a fast browser at 3G speeds, you'll find what you're looking for in no time.

Cheers ~ Arne
