Following the previous unboxing and hands-on videoview of the brand new Samsung Galaxy S Android smartphone, this videoview is about the Galaxy S' TouchWiz 3 user interface and the preinstalled non-standard Android applications, the Samsung Galaxy S comes with. Like all the current Android 2.1 smartphones, also the Galaxy S has 7 different home screens the user can swipe through. As always, they are fully customizable and can hold application shortcuts, widgets and more. Quite interesting is Samsung's new TouchWiz 3 interface. While the previous TouchWiz 2 interface was quite playful, TouchWiz 3 adds more usability to the Android UI by being less playful.

For instance, there's a strip on the bottom of the home and application screen. This strip holds three application which are always accessible from either the home or the application screen. However, like the application (and for sure the home screens) screen, the strip can also be customized and application shortcuts can be added and rearranged.

The Galaxy S comes with a wide range of preinstalled applications, Samsung has added for the benefit of the user. For instance there's an eBook reader which allows to download further eBooks, or a DLNA application called AllShare which allows to play multimedia files from the phone on another connected PC or vice versa. Furthermore, applications called Mini Diary Write and Go and Social Hub as well as ThinkFree Office and Voice Recorder are preinstalled.

Nevertheless, since the Samsung Galaxy S features the full Google experience, all typical Android applications like Gmail, Google Maps and Android Market are preinstalled as well and Android Market lets enhance the device even further.

Cheers ~ Arne
