The Toshiba TG01 is the company's latest Windows Phone which is released soon across Europe and Japan. Size- and hardware-wise it's quite unique for a Windows Phone. At a size of 70 x 129 x 9.9 mm and a weight of 129 g it features an enormous 4.1" WVGA (800x480)touchscreen and it's powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU at 1 GHz. The TG01, which runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional (a Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional upgrade will be available later free of charge), supports quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as dualband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA, WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, aGPS and an accelerometer. The autofocus camera features 3 megapixel and the device is backed-up by 512 MB ROM and 256 MB RAM which can be expanded by SDHC compatible microSD cards up to 32 GB.

Quite interesting is the fact that the device neither sports a D-Pad (not unusual for today's Windows Mobile phones) nor physical call send/end keys but on the front, you will only find a home and back key.

In Europe, the Toshiba TG01 will be available in either black or white while in Japan, a silver version will go on sale as well.

Cheers ~ Arne
