Thanks to HTC I've just received a brand new HTC Touch Diamond which is officially on sale in Europe since this week. It took a little bit longer for HTC to send it over to me because it got a ROM update just before it was sent out and now includes the latest ROM build which also features the TouchFLO 3D improvements I've mentioned earlier.
This videoview is about the unboxing only and shows what the HTC Touch Diamonds comes with (which includes the device, a stereo headset, the charger, the USB to mini USB cable as well as a spare stylus but no pouch):

I will follow-up with more HTC Touch Diamond videos and the full device review later.

Cheers ~ Arne

Arne, What is the version of your updated ROM?

Posted by Arne Hess on 21.06.08 - 16:21:35

ROM Version: 1.37.405.1 WWE
ROM Date: 06/10/08

I bought one today in France. I got :

1.37.406.1 FRE
Rom date : 06/10/08
radio :

In the french product page I can see different informations about UTMS frequencies :

On the device in phone settings (band tab) :

UMTS(900+2100)GSM (900/1800)
UMTS(850+1900)GSM (850/1900)

I tought that the HTC diamond was dual-band UMTS ?

Theses settings are specificd for the device or for windows mobile 6.1 ?

Arne, does your Diamond also have TomTom 7 pre-installed?

Posted by Arne Hess on 21.06.08 - 22:22:29

@Matthieu; Ignore everything about the UMTS US frequencies you see on the French page. That's how the HTC Diamond will be released later in North America. The English link you posted above shows the correct configuration for European Touch Diamons even if I'm not yet aware of an European UMTS network which uses 900 MHz.

@RobertWebbe: No, like you (I expect), I've also read reports that users reported of TomTom Navigator 7 on their Touch Diamonds but it's not preinstalled on the Touch Diamond I just got from HTC. So far, I only received the confirmation (and have seen it by myself) from O2 Germany that they will include TomTom Navigator 7 with its Xda diamond.

The ROM updates are now available for everyone on the HTC website:
Go to HTC e-Club, login (or create a new acount), register your Touch Diamond by entering your serial number at the My Registration tab, then go to My Download tab, choose Device updates en you'll see a picture of the Touch Diamond. Click this and follow instructions.

This update is only for HTC branded Touch Diamonds. Users with operator variants cannot use this upgrade! Your upgrade must be provided by your operator. Ask them when it will be available.

Of course make a backup. In the Download tab you can also find the Sprite backuptool.
