Following the earlier Omate TrueSmart info, Omate just unveiled the full specs of its - so called - "new generation smartwatch 2.0", which is said to combine smartphone capabilities along with wireless connectivity, location based services and a camera - all on the wrist and all in a premium build quality. But the Omate TrueSmart isn't just an accessory for smartphones but it packs a GSM/GPRS/EDGE at either 900/1800 or 850/1900 MHz and UMTS/HSPA at 850/2100 MHz phone with a micro SIM card as well as wireless connectivity and expandable memory up to 32 GB into a wristwatch. All this is used through the "Omate UI" launcher which runs on top of Google Android 4.2.2; which is said to come with a wide range of features and qualified Android apps.
Other fey features include a dual core Cortex A7 1.3 GHz CPU, a 1.54" TFT 240 x 240 LG multi-touch capacitive touchscreen, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, an embedded 5 megapixel camera with SD 480p 30fps video recording. All this is backed-up by 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB (optional 8/16/32GB) of flash memory. The 600 mAh battery is said to be good for up to 100 hours standby time. Since the Omate TrueSmart is also a phone, the smartwatch also comes with a speaker and a microphone and the Omate UI features a Messaging Hub which supports SMS, MMS and E-Mail.
The multi-functional phone and notifications are based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with app interface all in a sleek IP67 water-resistant smartwatch design and it's said that the Omate TrueSmart can be connected to Google Glass and other smart wearable devices functioning as a smart wearable phone, without the need of a smartphone.
Omate has yet not unveiled at which price the Kickstarter campaigns will launch or which packages will be available but the web site says that the Kicksterter.com launch will be in less than 2 hours.
UPDATE: The Omate TrueSmart can now funded on Kickstarter.com. Pledging starts at US$ 179, with an estimated shipping in November, and goes up to a limited Developers Edition for US$ 199, with an estimated shipping in Oktober.
