WORKAROUND: Get your SlingPlayer Mobile working with Windows Mobile 6

As you might remember, the SlingPlayer Mobile for Windows Mobile is incompatible at the moment with Windows Mobile 6 devices but over at Sling Community, some time ago a fix appeared which contains two DLLs to be used with Windows Mobile 6. One is a WMV-related DLL, the other is WMA-related  and I have no clue what these two DLLs do, where they come from and where they go to but it's a funky workaround and it works which is even more important since the first Windows Mobile 6 devices are shipping now (namely the Orange SPV E650) as well as the first Windows Mobile 6 upgrades expected to hit the street soon (namely the T-Mobile Dash Windows Mobile 6 upgrade):

XDA has done it again! I took the fix and put it in a all in one install. This file is the Download from Sling with the add DLL. Run the CAB from device. If you already have slingplayer installed then either un-install the old first or use the zip file below and extract the DLL only to the \Windows dir on the PPC or use the DLL Only CAB to instal just the DLL.

DLL Manual Fix

DLL Only CAB Auto Install

I've tried it with both platforms - Smartphone (Windows Mobile 6 Standard) and Pocket PC (Windows Mobile Professional) by installing the provided cab file and it definitely works:

Again, I'm not sure where the DLLs comes from but on the other hand, Sling Media is actively watching and supporting the Sling Community and if the links aren't disappeared so far, they might be ok with the availability of the workaround.
