Following
the

first launch of
Celio's REDFLY Mobile Companion, the company unveiled yesterday two new
models: the REDFLY C7 and REDFLY C8N. The REDFLY series of products are
smartphone terminals designed to offer the mobile workforce a larger keyboard
and screen for easy use of E-Mail, web, business applications, remote access and
cloud computing resources. The REDFLY C7 is a new, more affordable model with a
power-saving 7" display, light-weight five-hour battery, and feather-light
design under 1.5 lbs. The REDFLY C8N is the next evolution of the original
REDFLY design, enhanced to allow the use of the eight-inch screen by an iPod,
iPhone , Zune, or digital camera. These new Celio products continue to support
the smartphone, the most successful mobile computing platform available today,
and enable the smartphone's Internet-based and cloud-computing applications.

MONITORING: Spb Software launches Spb Wireless Monitor 3.0 for Windows Mobile

While
mobile Internet flats are pretty common these days, not every carrier offers an
affordable flat yet, not to talk about International Roaming. Therefore, the
mobile Internet is still often charged on transferred volumes. Here comes Spb
Software House's new Spb Wireless Monitor 3.0 into the game, Spb Software, the
Windows Mobile specialist, launched today. Spb Wireless Monitor 3.0 (previously
known as Spb GPRS Monitor) is a powerful software solution that offers full
control over all types of smartphone data connections by monitoring them in
accordance with configurable tariffs and data plans and providing per
application data traffic reports. First brought to market in 2002, Spb Wireless
Monitor accounts for the lack of a built-in data tracking tool in Windows Mobile
devices.

RECORD: ASUS introduces the P565 - the fastest Windows Mobile Smartphone in the World

ASUS,
which is also expected to make Eee mobile phones anytime in the future, last
week introduced another Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional smartphone - the ASUS
P565 that boasts an 800 MHz processor, which makes - at the time of this
announcement - the device the fastest smartphone in the world. Sporting triband
GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 900/1800/1900 MHz and singleband HSDPA (3.6 Mbps) at 2100 MHz,
the P565 also features WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. Rounding off its
impressive feature-set the device features a 2.8" VGA touchscreen and a 3
megapixel autofocus main camera, delivering an unprecedented degree of clarity
that does wonders for both personal photographs and spreadsheets.

RUMOR: Is Windows Mobile 6.5 showing here its face the first time?

While its existence was already
leaked by Motorola and later

confirmed by Microsoft, nearly nothing is yet known about Microsoft's next
Windows Mobile version which is currently called "Windows
Mobile 6.5". Nevertheless, SmartphoneFrance.info recently published two
screenshots the website calls legit Windows Mobile 6.5 screenshots.
According to these shots and SmartphoneFrance.info, Microsoft will "completely"
(?) revamp the user interface using Windows Mobile's "Confetti" engine (which is
already used in
Windows
Mobile 6.1). However, since the two screenshots only show the Today screen,
it's not yet clear if it is another facelift only or if the underlying menu
structures will be revamped as well:

finger-friendly approach to interfacing with a mobile device. In its six years
of market presence, it proved to be a bestseller. The new version of Spb's
keyboard now offers three modes of on-screen text input (Full Screen Mode, Half
Screen Mode, Standard Mode) and has received a new name to portray the change -
Spb Keyboard 4.0.

FIX: Microsoft releases official Windows Mobile 6.1 POP and IMAP Send Mail Patch

With
Windows Mobile 6.1, Microsoft introduced a new feature which allows mobile
operators to specify an alternate SMTP (Simple Mail Transport Protocol) server
name that is used if E-Mail messages cannot be sent by using the user-specified
SMTP server name. However, if the mobile operator doesn't specify an alternate
SMTP server name (which most likely most carriers don't) and if the Windows
Mobile 6.1-based device does not connect, the E-Mail account is corrupted and
cannot send E-Mail messages. This patch, which Microsoft just released, will fix
this problem and corrects the E-Mail account to allow you to send and receive
E-Mails from your Windows Mobile device again.
